Rain Necklace

I created four of these necklaces during a stressful time here in
South Eastern Australia, namely: Victoria and its devastating fires.
I often find that making something helps my
mind to process the trauma I imagine people and animals
to be experiencing. I have donated two of these to the Red Cross
to use as auction items in Sydney and Melbourne.
What would we have done without the Red Cross?
While I made the necklaces I prayed for rain.
I wanted the necklaces to show 'wet-and-dry'.
Luckily, coincidentally, it rained solidly in
Melbourne and most parts of the State for three days
at the tail end of the bushfire nightmare...

The necklaces are made out of vintage Swarovski crystal
(called 'Shadow', pale misty grey crystal)
and vintage bugle matte glass bugle beads which
I acquired years ago from a defunct New York
theater costume department.
